During the battle an Ottoman surprise counter attack from the rear eliminated the entire 3rd Artillery brigade of the Second Army, but was destroyed by the second Finnish cavalry. Following this, the army charged the city, led by the Second Finnish cavalry again. The city was taken with 2300 Russian casualties and 5600 Ottoman casualties. Two Ottoman infantry regiments surrendered and were taken prisoner. Junior Lieutenant Saku Hakkinen was promoted by the Emperor Vladimir II to the position of Lieutenant, and made a knight of the order of the white rose of Finland by the Finnish minister.

January 29, 1901, 15:32 The Persian Mandate's Prime Minister, Mohammad Alireza has been assassinated after a mere few days of issuing the Russians military access through the Mandate. The assassin has not yet been identified but the bullet was fired from an Enfield Mk 2 revolver, a weapon only issued within the British Military. The Russian ambassador in Tehran has immediately laid the blame on the British, while the British lay the blame on Ottoman supported Pan-Turkic terrorists. The Persian Mandate government has tried its best to cover up the story and try to lay the blame on the nationalist movement and has declined to comment to journalists. The Mandate issued a joint British-Persian investigation into the murder case.
January 30, 1901, 8:37 Hardline pro-British Brigadier General Abdolhassan Soleimani has attempted a coup d'état against the Persian Mandate. The Mandate's Defense Forces split as the 1st Army, the Gendarmerie corps, and the Russian-trained Persian Cossack Brigade all side with the Mandate while the British-trained South Persia Rifles, 2nd Army, and the British Security Forces all side with the Brigadier General. The coup's forces have immediately seized the Southern Persian cities of Shiraz, Isfahan, and the vital port/oil refinery of Abadan, while the loyalist Mandate forces control most of the rest of the country. Civil war seems imminent though so far, no bloodshed has occured. The Mandate has issued an arrest warrant and a £1,000,000 bounty for the capture of Abdolhassan Soleimani to be tried in a joint British-Persian military court.

February 3, 1901:
Brazil and its allies denounce the Antaran actions against both Persia and Russia. The Brazilian observation squadron is sent to the Persian Gulf, where it assists Persians fighting against the loyalists and Antaran mercenaries by providing reconnaissance and fire support. The Imperial ships receive strict orders not to fire on Antaran troops but on the loyalists only. The first arms shipments to Persia begin to leave multiple South American nations.

February 1-4, 1901 Both sides begin mass conscriptions of civilians in their respective occupied territories. The coup forces make a major offensive to Tehran. At the same time, the Antarans advise the Mandate forces to construct trenches and fortifications around major cities.
February 2 Nationalists uprise and easily defeat the small garrison in Tabriz. The Nationalists establish the Republic of Persia under the lead of Zun Yarsen. The uprising was well timed as the Russian Second Army marches on to reinforce the nationalists in February 3rd.
1850s-Present The Communists continue their guerilla war with the Mandate and are hostile to the other forces participating in the civil war. Rumor has it that they may be plotting a major offensive of their own.
February 3 The Persian Mandate purchases 2 experimental Zeppelins from the German Zeppelin company.
